While Muslim terrorists kidnapped and killed innocent people around the world as they do today, Thomas Jefferson knew exactly how to end radical Islam’s bloodshed – with a classic American take-no-prisoners smackdown.

President Jefferson refused to play games when given the choice of appeasement or confrontation in the face of terror.

The Bible on History Channel Begins Tomorrow

20130302-154713.jpg

I’m sure you have heard by now about the History Channel’s “The Bible” miniseries beginning tomorrow.

I’m looking forward to seeing the series, but have heard mixed reviews of how good it’s supposed to be. And I’ve heard that the filmmakers have taken many liberties with the storytelling.

I hope this isn’t the case and this film can be used as a great tool to spread the gospel.

I guess we will see tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving

Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

Today, families will meet and give thanks to God for all his many blessings He gives us while enjoying a table full of food.

Others will not have a table full of food. Many are still hurting in this troubling economy. Many have been unemployed for many months and even years.

Many of us will be hurting this thanksgiving, but the the joy of The Lord will be our strength (Nehemiah 8:10). We are told in 1 Peter 5:7 to cast our worries on The Lord and he will carry us through this hard time.

Thanksgiving is not about what you are eating for dinner tonight. It’s about honoring God in all that He is and all He has blessed us with.

George Washington, in his National Thanksgiving Proclamation on January 1, 1795, he said:

…our duty as a people, with devout reverence and affectionate gratitude, to acknowledge our many and great obligations to Almighty God, and to implore Him to continue and confirm the blessings we experienced…

Abraham Lincoln, on October 3, 1863, proclaimed the last Thursday in November to be an annual day of Thanksgiving. According to Lincoln, the day would serve as “A day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens.”

In his proclamation, he said:

…announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations are blessed whose God is the Lord… But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, by the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own… It has seemed to me fit and proper that God should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, by the whole American people…

We are a very blessed people to live here in the United States. We need to remember what the true meaning of Thanksgiving truly is. It’s not about what you are eating or not eating, it’s about giving thanks to The Lord for everything we have.

And we might not have much here on earth, but take peace in the fact that Jesus has delivered us from our sins and one day we will be with Him in Heaven.

One Thing To Keep In Mind: God Is In Control

Isaiah 55:8-9 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,So are My ways higher than your ways,And My thoughts than your thoughts.”

It was a disappointing election last night, but you have to remember God is in control.

What does another four years of Obama mean? No one can say for sure, except that the America we grew up in will continue to diminish.

In his first term, we have seen gas prices go from from a national average from $1.78 to $3.46, $3.94 in my home state of California.

We have seen food stamp usage rise over 50 percent, a rise of nearly $6 trillion to the national debt, he bought ads on MSNBC with tax payers dollars to promote Obamacare even though the majority of Americans were against it, and he did not send backup to aid two Navy Seals, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, to assist them in protecting Libyan Ambassador Chris Stevens. The incident saw 4 Americans die and it took over two weeks for the Obama Administration to call it a terrorist attack. Come on Mr. President, it happened on 9/11 and they were carrying combat weapons.

What are we seeing here? Is this God’s judgement on America? I wouldn’t be surprised if it was.

Yesterday, Maine Washington and Maryland voted to make gay marriage legal. Minnesota voted down a state constitutional amendment that would have defined marriage between a man and a woman.

I’m only 26 and I have seen such a dramatic change for the worse in this country since I was a child. Even since I graduated from high school in 2004.

Billy Graham, who is celebrating his 94th birthday today, once said “If God doesn’t judge America, He’ll have to apologize to Sodom and Gamorrah.” We may be at that time of judgement. Think about it. America has just reelected a man who’s party booed God at the DNC Convention.

But the thing to keep in mind is that God is in control. We need to pray for His will to be done no matter what that is.

Voter Guide: California Presidential Election 2012

The most important election of our lifetime is just a few short weeks away.We hear that saying every four years, but this election is different.

We are being presented with two very contrasting views of the direction our country should take. One is to maintain this path towards socialism and the ever growing government control on every aspect of our lives. The alternative view embraces capitalism and plans to decrease the influence of the federal government in citizens lives while rebuilding our reputation on the international scene.

We shouldn’t be voting as Republicans or Democrats, but as Christians. It needs to be an election where we vote righteously and not on popularity.

President: Mitt Romney

Can a Christian vote for Mitt Romney even though he’s a Mormon?

Of course they can.

Especially when his opponent, a supposed Evangelical, is for redefining the sanctity of marriage and has condoned the murder of unborn babies through abortion.

I think Mike Huckabee said it best in this video clip.

The Democrats even booed the addition of God to their party platform at the DNC. Video

Obama’s policies are clearly anti Christian. If fact, they are anti freedom of religion. The war against the Catholic Church, forcing them to give out contraception, is a prime example of that (link)

Besides all that, the economy is in shambles and we have fewer jobs than we did four years ago with no signs of significant improvement.

America is being presented with two distinct different paths. Mitt Romney is the best choice for America.

Senate: Elizabeth Emken

Wake up California. It’s time to retire Dianne Feinstein.

It’s time for some new blood to go to Washington D.C. that can get some serious reform done.

Elizabeth Emken was my choice in my primary voter guide and she is my choice now.

She supports a balanced budget, would have voted against the stimulus and Obamacare and supports tax reform to lower the burden on small businesses. Feinstein is a career politician with no new ideas. She has proven this by her refusal to debate Emken.

It’s time for a change and we need to send Emken to the Senate.

Propositions

Vote No on Prop 30: Gov. Jerry Brown Tax Hike

As a CSU student, I will be hit with higher tuition fees if Prop. 30 fails, but I’m still voting no.

Prop. 30 adds $50 billion in new taxes, but no money is mandated to go to education.

It’s just another attempt by California Democrats to raise taxes by using education as a crutch.

If we want to solve the budget problem in California, lawmakers need to take the budget line-by-line and do some serious cutting to the many wasteful programs our taxpayer dollars go to. Here is a great article on the wasteful spending happening in California.

Cutting wasteful spending is the only way to keep tuition affordable at colleges and universities.

Proponents to this prop are touting it as a billionaires tax. And while it will raise income tax for only those making over $250,000, it will also raise the state sales tax by 1/4 percent. So it’s a tax on everyone, not just on the very rich.

Vote No on Prop 31: Two-Year Budget Cycle

I strongly encourage my conservative friends to do their research before voting on this proposition.

The language is very misleading.

The proposition sounds really good and even has the endorsement of the state GOP. It will establish a two-year budget cycle, prohibits the legislature from creating expenditures over $25 million unless offsetting or making cuts. It would also permit the governor to cut unilaterally during fiscal emergencies if the legislature fails to act.

But upon further examination, Prop 31 would also destroy the free market. It strengthens government control by creating what the United Nations calls Agenda 21.

What it will do is strengthen government, Hurt businesses and use climate control as the reason to grow the ever increasing regulation in California.

Here is a great article on why the East Bay Tea Party has decided not to endorse Prop 31.

Vote Yes on Prop 32: Ban on Union Contributions to State and Local Candidates

Prop. 32 cuts the ties between special interest groups and politicians. It will ban unions and corporations to candidates. It also stops all payroll withholding for political purposes and makes it an opt in voluntary program.

Vote Yes on Prop 33: Car Insurance Rates

Californians with car insurance earn a discount for following the law. But if you switch companies you lose the discount. Proposition 33 allows you the freedom to change insurance companies and keep your discount. Proposition 33 makes insurance companies compete, helps lower rates, and will insure more drivers

Vote No on Prop 34: Death Penalty Review

California is broke. Prop. 34 costs taxpayers $100 million over four years and many millions more, long term. Taxpayers would pay at least $50,000 annually, giving lifetime healthcare/housing to killers who tortured, raped, and murdered children, cops, mothers, and fathers. DA’s, Sheriffs and Police Chiefs say Vote No.

Vote Yes on Prop 35: The CASE Act

STOP HUMAN TRAFFICKING. PREVENT THE SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF CHILDREN. Traffickers force women and children to sell their bodies on the streets and online. Prop. 35 fights back, with tougher sentencing, help for victims, protections for children online. Trafficking survivors; children’s and victims’ advocates urge: YES on 35.

Vote No on Prop 36: Amending 3 strikes law

Proposition 36 will release dangerous criminals from prison who were sentenced to life terms because of their long criminal history. The initiative is so flawed some of these felons will be released without any supervision! Join California’s Sheriffs, Police, Prosecutors, and crime victims groups in voting No on Proposition 36.

Vote Yes on 37: Mandatory Labeling

Proposition 37 gives us the right to know what is in the food we eat and feed to our families. It simply requires labeling of food produced using genetic engineering, so we can choose whether to buy those products or not. We have a right to know.

Vote No on Prop 38: Income Tax increase on all Californians

If you earn $17,346 per year in taxable income, your taxes increase. Total of $120 BILLION in higher taxes. No requirements to improve student performance. Can’t be changed for 12 years even for fraud. Damages small business. Kills jobs. Educators, taxpayers and businesses say No on 38.

Vote No on Prop 39: Income Tax increase on multistate businesses

Proposition 39 is a massive $1 billion tax increase on California job creators that employ tens of thousands of middle class workers. It’s a recipe for waste and corruption, giving Sacramento politicians a blank check to spend billions without real accountability. California is billions in debt; 39 makes it worse.

Vote Yes on Prop 40: Redistricting State Senate Districts

Yes on 40 protects the State Senate maps drawn by the voter-approved Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission. Yes on 40 upholds the will of California voters to hold politicians accountable by keeping them out of the redistricting process. Good government groups, seniors, businesses and taxpayers recommend “Yes on 40.”

Hope For America

Some of the following post is a Book review, but most is my opinion on the current state of America.

The Book “Hope for America” by Greg Laurie shows that Hope for America cannot be found in any Politician but in repenting as a nation and returning to God. What the nation needs is revival.

Laurie points to the 60’s as the starting point of the downfall of America. It was during this time when all these different liberal ideologies came about and slowly began to blur the lines of good and evil and absolute truth. And that brings us to today. You take God and clear lines of right and wrong from our schools and people wonder how someone can take a gun and shoot up their campus. Or shoot up a movie theatre.

It wasn’t always like this. The United States was founded on Judeo-Christian values. lauire gives the example of the first ever prayer in congress.

O Lord our Heavenly Father, high and mighty King of kings, and Lord of lords, who dost from thy throne behold all the dwellers on earth and reignest with power supreme and uncontrolled over all the Kingdoms, Empires and Governments; look down in mercy, we beseech Thee, on these our American States, who have fled to Thee from the rod of the oppressor and thrown themselves on Thy gracious protection, desiring to be henceforth dependent only on Thee. To Thee have they appealed for the righteousness of their cause; to Thee do they now look up for that countenance and support, which Thou alone canst give. Take them, therefore, Heavenly Father, under Thy nurturing care; give them wisdom in Council and valor in the field; defeat the malicious designs of our cruel adversaries; convince them of the unrighteousness of their Cause and if they persist in their sanguinary purposes, of own unerring justice, sounding in their hearts, constrain them to drop the weapons of war from their unnerved hands in the day of battle!

Be Thou present, O God of wisdom, and direct the councils of this honorable assembly; enable them to settle things on the best and surest foundation. That the scene of blood may be speedily closed; that order, harmony and peace may be effectually restored, and truth and justice, religion and piety, prevail and flourish amongst the people. Preserve the health of their bodies and vigor of their minds; shower down on them and the millions they here represent, such temporal blessings as Thou seest expedient for them in this world and crown them with everlasting glory in the world to come. All this we ask in the name and through the merits of Jesus Christ, Thy Son and our Savior.

Amen.

Several founding fathers are also quoted in the book showing that America was founded as a Christian nation.

Laurie says in the book that revival for America begins with each one of us. Are we where we should be with God? Are we in His perfect will for our lives or are we running from Him like Jonah? We need to take an inventory of our lives and see where we stand.

This also applies to the church as a whole. How can we expect revival to come to a country when the current state of the church is lukewarm. The American church has turned into the Laodicean church.

We must repent before it is too late.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

It can very easily be: “If (Insert your name here) will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive (Insert your name here) sin and heal (Insert your name here) land.”

The above was part book review part analysis on the current situation. I think it can all be summed up with one word, revival.

Will America see revival? Maybe. One thing we do know is that America is seen nowhere in prophecy. It could be that what we happening in America is God’s judgement already falling on America.

This is why it is so important we go to the polls and vote for Mitt Romney. He’s not the GOP candidate I would have chosen and there are some major problems with his religious views, but he’s a whole lot better than Barack Obama.

God is in control and he has put these two candidates in place, and it is our job to vote righteously for the best choice.

Pray for the nation and pray for revival. It’s truly the only hope for America.
